BLOOD WEDDING (FEBRUARY/MARCH 2023)
A bride in her rural Spanish town is caught between her betrothed and an old lover, who has a blood feud with the family of the betrothed. In a society that values marriage for profit more than marriage for love, it explores love, sexuality, and violence through the lens of marriage. Lorca sought to create theatre that was unapologetically bold. His work entails the attempt to return the “drama” to drama by making the theatrical event into a feast for the senses and the deepest emotions.
